Pet Urgent/Emergency Care in San Diego
Many pet owners have experienced the stressful situation of their furry friend needing unexpected medical care. Often, these unforeseen circumstances arise after your regular vet has closed for the day. You don't want your pet to suffer, and you're unsure if the situation can wait. This is where our team at Urgent Care Pet Clinic steps in. Located in San Diego, our state-of-the-art facility opens when most other veterinarians are closing for the day.
Open Monday through Saturday from 5 PM until 11 PM, we offer urgent pet care and emergency vet services. Our goal is to relieve pain and discomfort and help your pet recover from whatever is ailing them. Whether it's a sudden illness, rash, or injury, our facility will see your pet the same day. We do accept walk-ins and emergencies, but we do ask that you call for an appointment if possible, so we can prepare for your visit. If you walk in, your pet will be triaged by our staff and seen as soon as possible.
When Should You Take Your Pet For Urgent or Emergency Care?
Sometimes it's challenging to determine if your pet needs to see an emergency vet immediately or if the issue can wait until the next day. If your pet is experiencing any of the following, don't hesitate to contact an urgent care or emergency vet:
- Shaking/tremors
- Unusual vocalizations (whining, growling, hissing) when touched
- Inability to stand
- Vomiting or diarrhea that won't stop
- Bleeding
- Fever
- Dehydration
- Ingestion of poison
- Animal or insect bite
- Tick infestation
- Breathing difficulty
- Ingestion of a foreign object (corn cob, toys)
- Rash
- Straining to defecate or urinate
Services We Offer
In addition to the expert knowledge and expertise of our staff, we use a variety of resources to diagnose and treat your pet, including:
- Radiographs
- Ultrasounds
- Blood tests (on-site)
- Emergency surgery
- Hospitalization
Typically, our patients are discharged after treatment. However, if they require extended care, we will admit them to our facility, where they will be monitored and treated. We will consult with you if we believe they need to be transferred to another facility and will contact your regular vet to update them on your pet's condition. We will always provide you with instructions and advice on follow-up care.
